The Modi government has launched the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana so that every Indian can avail government schemes and other benefits.
Under the PM Jan Dhan Yojana, anyone can open a zero balance savings account from any bank (under this scheme).
Children below the age of 10 years can also register under this scheme.
Under the PM Jan Dhan account, the beneficiary gets benefits such as savings and deposits, loans, insurance and pension.
Linking PM Jan Dhan account with Aadhaar can get additional benefits.
What are the benefits?
Account holders will get a total benefit of Rs 1.3 lakh from the central government, Rs 1 lakh under accident insurance and Rs 30,000 under general insurance.
This cover is available in case the account holder meets with an accident.
The account holder will get an overdraft facility of Rs 10,000 and a RuPay debit card.
Several schemes including Direct Benefit Transfer, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana are available to account holders.
How to link Aadhaar with PM’s Jan Dhan account?
Aadhaar card can be linked through online and offline processes.
Required Documents Aadhaar Card ATM Card Bank Passbook Mobile, You will receive OTP offline process for offline processing
Take the required documents to the bank.
They will check your documents and your Aadhaar card will be linked to your PM Jan Dhan account.
Online Process You can link to the online process by following these steps
Visit the official website of the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and enter your ID and password to log in to your account
Locate the “”Aadhaar link with bank account” option and click on it then you will be redirected to the new page
Enter your Aadhaar number and click on the “Submit” button – select the bank you want to link with Aadhaar and click on the “Submit”” button.
You will receive the OTP for aadhaar registered mobile number
The bank will process the ATM in 3-4 days for linking Aadhaar to the PMJDY account but for this you will have to get the information from the bank as the number you need to send an SMS to vary from bank to bank.
